Situations Vacant

Qualified Family Mediators

We are currently recruiting for full time and part time mediators to join the team working at our offices and outposts in Staffordshire, Stoke on Trent, Leicestershire, Derbyshire, and Wolverhampton.  As a growing service we are always looking to expand our team of  salaried experienced mediators.  We also welcome applications from sessional mediators able to work on a day basis, dependent upon the work available.  Applicants must be experienced Family Mediators able to undertake all types of private and legally aided work.

Applications are welcomed from qualified Professional Practice Consultants or Mediators with management experience who wish to undertake or assist with supervision of the existing mediator team or the expansion of our business. There may also be further development opportunities for applicants willing to train as a Professional Practice Consultant.

Trainee Family Mediators

Training to be a family mediator requires time and a commitment to complete a training course with an authorised provider over a period of months and go on to complete a portfolio of cases under supervision to be recognised as an accredited mediator.  A trainee will usually have a background in family law, counselling, family support, or finance..  It is important that a mediator has a good understanding of family life to help clients consider arrangements for their children and the management /splitting of family finances, so that they can help clients explore options and ideas.  A trainee must be able to manage and support clients who may display a whole range of emotions – sadness, anger, depression, fear, loss etc.  Moving on can take time and sometimes clients require help from other agencies so signposting is part of the mediation information and assessment process.

Some trainees come to the service having completed a Family Mediation Core Training Programme and work on their portfolio with one of our Professional Practice Consultants. Others will come before beginning the Core Training and we will support the trainee throughout the process.  Whatever the route we would discuss and agree a training contract so that the trainee and the service agree contract terms in advance.

If you would like to arrange an informal meeting to discuss this further or obtain an application form please contact us.
